A new farm shop has won awards for the quality of its produce. Staff from the Watnall Farm Shop at Hall Farm, Narrow Lane, Watnall, travelled to Newark Showground on Wednesday, January 28 for the annual British Pork Executive’s (BPEX) East Midlands Regional Roadshow and scooped three gold, one silver and four bronze certificates for the quality of eight of their products. The family-run shop, which has only been open for business eight months, struck gold with the judges for the quality of their farmer’s pie, steak pie and stew. Owner Debbie Hazledine, said: “We were really surprised to win so many. We know businesses round here that didn’t do nearly as well as us “With it being our first time, we didn’t really know what we were doing or what to expect so it was fantastic to come away with so many awards.” The awards are given out in different categories on the quality of the products, so more than one competitor can win gold in each category. The shop sells only products made on site or bought locally.
